What can Reiki do?
Reiki has helped people ease stress, pain relief, depression and anxiety. It can...
Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive, meditative practice that helps people feel better and heal better. Originally from Japan, the hands on (or off) sessions that are part of Reiki practice continue to grow in popularity, offered in hospitals, nursing homes, and hospice centers in the US and around the world. Many thousands of nurses and doctors have learned to practice Reiki.
Reiki is not a religion and easily can be integrated into any beliefs or traditions you already may have. My practice has connected me with Christians, Jews, and Buddhists, atheists, skeptics, and scientists, many of whom have enjoyed sessions or who practice Reiki themselves. Since Reiki works on physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels – the causes of an issue, rather than just the symptoms - it treats the person as a whole. Aiding in stress reduction and relaxation, it can encourage the body’s own natural healing abilities.
What happens during a Reiki treatment?
First we'll chat to address any questions. In person treatments (which currently I am not offering) can be either "on" or "off" the body; your choice. Fully clothed, you'll lie on a padded table or sit in a chair, covered by a light blanket or sheet if you like. I'll place my hands lightly on, or just above areas of your head, shoulders, torso, limbs, and feet. While many enjoy feeling the touch of warm hands, it isn't strictly necessary. We don't even need to be in the same physical location for a session.
During a session, you are in charge. I encourage you to voice any preferences, discuss any concerns,
to be sure you feel comfortable. For remote sessions, you'll sit or lie somewhere comfortable for you.
With eyes open or closed, I'll guide you in meditation, spoken and silent, into a space for ease and healing.
What does a Reiki treatment feel like?
The most common sensations people report are feelings of calm and deep relaxation, varying amounts of heat, warmth, or even coolness, or tingling in areas being treated. Some people feel gentle waves of energy flowing up or down their bodies, settling in different areas or creating a feeling of release. Some may not feel anything, or simply feel a subtle sense of ease or openness.
This doesn’t mean "it's not working"; often healing that occurs becomes apparent over time. Some may have an "emotional release" during a session, perhaps laughing, crying, or feeling angry. Expressing emotion is healthy! And something we may not allow ourselves to do often enough. All aspects of sessions are kept strictly confidential; it's important to me to create a safe space of trust and comfort.
